Legacy giving

“What makes greatness is starting something that lives after you”

Making a Will is one of the most important decisions you make. Your Will ensures that your possessions, money and other assets are left to the people and things whom you love and care about. Your Will is also an opportunity to remembering a charity such as MY Trust and through your legacy to help improve the lives of thousands of children and young people.

Many people think that it is only very wealthy people who leave money to charity when they die and that there is no point leaving a legacy unless it is for millions of pounds. These are myths and a gift left in your Will is a very important and valuable way to support MY Trust.

Research shows that over one third of people say they expect to leave a gift to charity when they die but less than 10% actually do.

So, you don’t have to be extremely wealthy to make a gift that makes a meaningful difference in your memory.

When you make a Will you:

  • Make sure your money, property and other assets are managed appropriately
  • Lessen the burden on the family and friends you leave behind
  • Lessen the impact of inheritance tax

We understand that your Will and planning for the time you are no longer here is a sensitive and serious topic. So if you are interested in discussing how to make a legacy donation to MY Trust, please contact our Chief Executive, Simone Miles at simone.miles@themytrust.org or on 01634 95 90 90 to arrange a private and confidential conversation.
